The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme is designed to promote mutual understanding between Japan and other nations, foster international exchange at the local level and enhance foreign language education in Japan.

For reference purposes, the time-line for recruitment is generally as follows:

* Please note that applicants must be a national of the country where recruitment and selection procedures take place by the time they submit their application form. For Australian applicants, interviews will not be conducted overseas - including Japan.

* As one of the aims of the JET Programme is to foster exchange between Japanese youth and young professionals from participating countries, applicants should in principle be less than 40 years of age.
