1) 助成金がおりたお祝いを、Health & Ageing連邦政府大臣のNicola Roxonさんからいただきました。RE: Congratulation
I am pleased to see that your organisation has been successful with its application.
More than 6700 community organisations across Australia will benefit from $21 million in volunteer grants. Under this initiative, grants of between $1,000-$5,000 are provided to non-profit organisations to support their volunteers and encourage volunteering.
Every day volunteers are out in our local community doing what they do best-helping those in need, nurturing our environment and fostering our nation’s sporting and cultural life.
Volunteers are the backbone of so many of our non-profit organisations and make a real and lasting difference in the lives of so many people in our community. The Australian Government values the enormous contribution volunteers provide. This funding will ease the financial pressure on non-profit organisations and their volunteers.
Please note that my office may be able to assist in providing a letter of support to accompany your grant application. Please do not hesitate to contact my office should you decide to apply for grants in the future and
require a letter of support.

NicolaさんはANEが介護士・看護師さんの資格獲得への問題やサポートをしているのをご存知です。Health & Ageingの有力なコネクションができました。来年6月に日野原先生の講演会にもおよびしたいと考えています。資格認可運動を手伝っていた看護師さん、介護士さんの中には時間切れで日本におもどりになった方も多いのですが、あきらめず運動を継続しています。むずかしい審査を通過し仕事を始めた先輩達もいます。皆さんが日本でなさった勉強経験をいかすことができるように、お手伝いをします。夢はすてないでくださいね。
2) 日本から庭師の方がワークエクスペリエンスでの仕事を希望しています。
日本庭園協会東北支部から2月15日から22日まで、23歳から60歳までの5人の庭師の方がメルボルンに来て、ボランテイアで剪定作業をしたいと希望なさっています。ボランテイアといいましたが できたらHome Stayと食事はつけてほしいとのこと。オーストラリアのネーテイブの木を日本庭園風にできるかどうか、チャレンジしたいそうです。もし、ご協力をいただけて、詳しい日程など知りたい方は、事務所まで連絡してください。打診があったばかりですので、詳細は決まり次第お知らせします。
3) 子どもの森づくり運動活動が広がっています。来年は6月13日に植樹予定です。

今年も大変お世話になりました。
「子どもの森づくり運動」では、2008年より、日本郵政グループとともに、全国都道府県に１園（東京は2園）、拠点園作りを目指すフラッグシップ活動「JP子どもの森づくり運動」を展開してまいりましたが、2009年12月現在、全国44エリアをシェアするという大きな成果を達成させていただきました。
これも皆様の日頃のご協力の賜物と、あらためて心より御礼申し上げます。
2010年には、いよいよ全国で植樹活動が始まります。
どうぞひきつづきのご指導、ご支援を賜ります様お願い申し上げます。
末筆ながら、新年が皆様にとって良い年となります様お祈り申し上げます。

4) 日本のNPOの団体が日本で留学生の世話をしています。
メルボルンにも留学生を送りたいという話を始めました。仕事を斡旋してほしい、日本語を教えてほしいという問い合わせも増えています。ネットワーク作りにご協力いただける方は、事務局にご連絡下さい。来年はワークショップの数も増やしていきます。教えたいこと、おそわりたいことなど、具体的な問い合わせをお待ちしています。

WHEN A LIZARD CAN, WHY CAN'T WE?
This is a true story that happened in Japan.
In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan breaks open the wall.
Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls. When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there because a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet. He sees this,
feels pity, and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail, it was nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built.
What happened?
The lizard has survived in such position for 10 years! In a dark wall partition for 10 years without moving, it is impossible and mind-boggling.
Then he wondered how this lizard survived for 10 years! Without moving a single step--since its foot was Nailed!
So he stopped his work and observed the lizard, what it has been doing, and what and how it has been eating.
Later, not knowing from where it came appears another lizard, with food in its mouth. Ah! He was stunned and touched deeply.
For the lizard that was stuck by nail; another lizard has been feeding it for the past 10 years...
Imagine? It has been doing that untiringly for 10 long years, without giving up hope on its partner.
Think, will you do that to your partner?
Think that will you do it to your Mom, who has brought you into this world after a big struggle of nine long months? Or at least to your Dad, Friends, Co-workers, brothers and sisters?
Imagine what a small creature can do that a creature blessed with a brilliant mind can't.
As information and communication technology advances, our access to information becomes faster and faster.
But the Distance between human beings . .. . is it getting closer as well?
